My name is Six Silberman. I came to yoga seriously in 2009 after an inner ear infection left me unable to stand for a week. After the infection passed, my doctor said my balance was unlikely ever to fully recover. A martial artist throughout childhood and adolescence and passionate urban cyclist in college, I began yoga simply to restore balance to my body. My physical balance returned within two months of regular practice. As I continued to practice I found that it created space for emotional balance as well, helping me slow down, breathe, reflect, cultivate patience, and nurture and deepen personal relationships. I continue to draw support in navigating the complexities of everyday life—physical, mental, and emotional—from the practice, and am grateful to be able to share the practice and learn from inspiring teachers, students, and friends.
